Manatee County operates a consolidated 800MHz M/A-Com ProVOICE (capable) EDACS System, all public safety communications occur on this system. Currently as of 2/2011 the only users using the ProVoice are DPW and Radio Services. Upgrades are planned to move to ProVoice to make public safety unmonitorable. With the End of Life (EOL) of EDACS, this system and the Sarasota County P25 system will in the future MERGER to FORM the SARAMANA P25 System for both counties. The Manatee 911/EOC is the dispatch center for the county run EMS service, and all fire departments in the county. Bradeton Fire is self dispatched by Bradenton PD. The Manatee County Sheriffs office (MSO), Bradenton Police, Holmes Beach, Palmetto Police, & Long Boat Key all do their own dispatching via their own dispatch centers, for police only. LBK FD has switched to EOC dispatching as with all other FD's in the county. The FD's in the county are SEPARATE ORGANIZATIONS and NOT operated or controlled by the county! Anna Maria Police was disbanded and is patrolled by MSO (xW71), and Bradenton Beach PD is dispatched by MSO on MSO_W_PAT 11.
