Pinellas county currently has 2 (TWO) trunking systems to cover the various public safety agencies in the county. Pinellas county &: St. Petersburg operate a semi-merged Motorola Smartnet Type II system, and the City of Clearwater operates a Ericsson EDACS systems.

In the near future the Pinnellas county & St. Pete. systems will be merged into a 3 (THREE) site SmartZone system, North, Central, and South. This will leave only the Clearwater EDACS system.
